From
1966 to 1991, Basil Dunlop
was the official weather recorder for Grantown-on-Spey, three miles from
the location of the current "Strathspey Weather" station
at Cromdale.
I feel sure that his records, presented here as
monthly summaries, will be of great interest to local residents and climatologists
alike.
Whilst I have the luxury of modern computer equipment to record my data for me,
I can only imagine the conditions that Basil must have endured to
maintain his records, from howling gales and rain, to the blasts of
Arctic weather that Strathspey experiences from time to time.
I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to make the
fruits of his labour available to all on the web, and I am indebted to
him for his kind provision of these records.
